AHW: Applique and Handwork Workshop - Mar 16, 2026 05:00 pm
Hand Work / Applique Workshop Time Time: 5-8 Hosted by Julie Burger Class Fee: $20 this workshop This is a new workshop style class so you can set aside one time a month to get together with like minded people to relax and work on your handwork and/or applique (machine or hand) project in a well stocked classroom. A Time for Gathering will be used for instruction purposes right from the beginning of sorting, supplies used and demos. We will meet once a month throughout the year to make, cut, stitch and create. Discussions, goals, sharing, will take place. This is uninterrupted dedicated time to give to yourself. Come join the fun and get your project going! Bring your own supplies and ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha project including a light box, fine pencil, nonstick parchment paper, or a silicone mat, tweezers, fusible product and glue if necessary and don’t forget your smile!

Create your own unique Quilted jacket using a sweatshirt as your pattern. Customizing options to add accent collar, pockets, extra sleeve length and jacket length will be available. Pre-class planning and decisions on jacket style will be required prior to the class including fabric choices of main, accent and lining fabrics as well as your option choices. Essential knowledge of your sewing machine, use of walking foot or dual feed, quilting technique, topstitching and binding are required. The first class will be preparing your sweatshirt patterns, cutting your option pieces and preparing your jacket layers using 505 Adhesive Fabric Spray to machine quilt for homework. The second class will be the jacket construction. It is essential to arrive with all supplies, fabrics and decisions regarding options ready to start the class. Please reach out with any questions prior to class so you are prepared! You will have a beautiful jacket that reflects your creative style and love for quilting!

This bag is great for quilting classes, shopping at your favorite quilt store, a project bag or traveling to quilt retreats. There are large pockets that can hold yards of fabrics, magazines or large patterns, rulers, etc.. Mesh pockets are able to hold smaller tools, scissors, cutters, rulers, templates, pens, markers, thread, clippers, etc.. Between the pockets are storage areas that can hold larger pieces of fabric, quilt tops, mini iron, cutting mats, etc. Elastic loops can hold markers, pens, or scissors for easier access. The front opens up to reveal an ironing pad which is great for classes or retreats. A 6’ x 12” ruler at the bottom of the bag for easier storage. At the back of the bag is a sleeve that will fit over the handle of your rolling sewing machine tote or suitcase. This bag does require some time to create, however you will be very happy with your final result!
